PRINCIPAL SOIREE’ TO BE HELD MAY 31ST 2007 AT THE 40/40 CLUB IN NYC.
The Entertainers 4 Education Alliance which is known for utilizing celebrities to promote positive messages to youths, along with the title partner Catapult Online, will for the first time honor some of the true heroes in our society; New York City Public School Principals on Thursday May 31st 2007; 6:00pm-9:00pm at the World Famous 40/40 Club located, 6 W. 25th Street NYC. This event is sponsored by the CSA (Council of Schools Supervisors and Administrators), Hpnotiq, and the 40/40 Club with promotional support provided by KISS FM and HOT 97 FM. This event will be co-hosted by KISS FM’s own Wake Up Club co-host Raqiyah and will feature over 400 NYC city school principals along with a host of city and school officials and invited guest including member from the music and entertainment community.
Tonya Lewis founder of Entertainers 4 Education Alliance says “While celebrities and athletes are held in the highest regard, we felt it was appropriate to recognize the some of true heroes in our society, the New York City school principals, they support the teachers and help prepare our children for tomorrow.” The Principals Soiree’ is designed to recognize outstanding achievement in the city’s school leaders for the tireless and often time’s thankless work they do in helping our children receive a quality education. Mikki Cruz regional Manager from Catapult Online says, “Principals are doing so much to create a brighter future for our youth. It is our obligation to recognize the exceptional efforts these individuals are making every day but, whose works often go unnoticed.”
The Principals Soiree’ comes during worst time in New York City Public School history where principals are at the forefront of an educational crisis. The drop out rate in NYC is at a shocking all time high. 49% of New York City’s Public High School students do not graduate from high school; Everyday 500 students drop out of NYC high schools. New York State has the highest dropout rate for Black and Hispanic students of any state in the nation.
About Entertainers 4 Education Alliance: E4EA is a not-for profit organization established to provide at- risk youth with positive messages addressing negative behaviors and the importance of education. We enlist and utilize the talents and resources of the music and entertainment community to provide support and encouragement to our youth.
